Maggo! is a streetwear-focused publication that draws heavy design inspiration from the avant-garde aesthetics of 90s Japanese fashion magazines like FRUiTS and KERA.
The objective was to balance "organised chaos" with professional readability.
- Aesthetic Identity: I utilised bold, "bubbly" typography and a high-contrast pastel palette to capture the energy of 90s Harajuku culture.
- Editorial Layout: Despite the experimental nature of the spreads, I maintained a strong visual hierarchy. This ensures that while the design feels "fresh and fun," the reader can still easily navigate the contents and absorb key information.
- Consistency: A recurring color story and specific grid structures were used throughout the issue to provide a "polished" feel to an otherwise playful and experimental layout.
